The Engineering Partners, Inc. (EPI) is an electrical engineering consulting firm located in San Diego, California. Since its incorporation in 1985, EPI, a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), has expanded its workforce to 62 employees.

EPI has extensive experience in the rehabilitation and upgrade of systems and devices within existing structures and complexes, and the design of new systems and devices within and for buildings; including building utilities, site lighting and driveway lighting; and in various Design-Build projects which include the preparations of RFP’s for Design/Build contacting and the preparation of the 1391 planning documents. Most notable recent and current projects include the design and installation of ground-mount and rooftop Photo Voltaic systems as part of new construction and as part of rehabilitation of older structures, ensuring their compliance with utility regulations and the California Solar Initiative.

As a LEED Certified Consulting Engineering firm, EPI provides Green Building Designs which are energy efficient and environmentally responsible. Energy efficiency with reasonable capital cost is achievable through creative engineering. Sustainable and practical alternatives must be considered during conceptual design. Mr. Flores, Principal in Charge, is a Professional Electrical Engineering with over 25 years of experience in the design of lighting, power, communications, fire alarm, security and industrial control systems. His lighting and power experience includes computer modeling of lighting systems, energy efficiency analysis, alternative lighting systems, medium and low voltage power distribution, motor protection and controls, coordination studies, short circuit and load flow analysis. He is also experienced in utility assessments. He has an excellent reputation for planning, implementing and directing all aspects of the project.

As the Quality Control manager, he is responsible for conducting reviews, at appropriate phases in the project, to determine if objectives are being met and that the project is technically sound. At the end of each project, he reviews the design, specifications and cost estimates against an established criteria list to assure that any potential errors or omissions are found before the project is turned over to the client.

Mr. Long is a Professional Electrical Engineer with over 25 years of professional experience in the design of various electrical engineering projects. His experience includes a broad range of responsibilities such as preparation of construction plans, specifications, studies, reports, and cost estimates for electrical repair projects, new construction, rehabilitation, and installation of electrical utilities. Mr. Long is responsible for overseeing all projects from fee negotiation through construction administration.

He organizes and manages EPI’s resources to accomplish specific project cost, time, and quality from the project’s inception to its completion. He is the liaison between the client and the project team, ensuring that the program is clearly established and that goals are understood, accepted, and pursued. He controls and coordinates the development of the design projects through the timely execution and monitoring of the Fee Proposal, Agreement, Project Budget, Design Schedule, Additional Professional Services, Client Approvals, Approvals by Civil Authorities, Consultant Agreements, Construction Bid Schedule, Construction Schedule, and Quality Assurance/Control Plan.
