Pacific Sky School is Del Mar Union School District’s (DMUSD) 9th school. The school site is designed to accommodate a 450-student K-6 school campus and includes a Central Kitchen facility. The total number of classrooms is 27 and the total building development area is approximately 70,000 square feet. The school is a design bid build project with a total construction cost of $51.1 million including site work, and a project duration of 15 months.
Engineering Partners Inc. provided electrical engineering consisting of interior and exterior lighting, power, and technology system designs for the site and all campus buildings. The new main electrical utility service is 1200A, 480Y/277V, 3Ph, and 4W system. EPI coordinated the new electrical service with San Diego Gas & Electric. Technology system includes telephone, data, physical security systems (access control and surveillance), and audio-visual system.
Pacific Sky School, located in Pacific Highlands Ranch, has been awarded the Leroy F. Greene Design & Planning Award in the New Built Project category. The award recognizes excellence in school facilities design based on criteria including the planning process, learning environment, design, community environment, physical environment, and sustainability.
