Industrial
Project is $14M design-bid-build which included a 12 MGD new pump station with (4)500HP pumps, new 9 MGD Flow Control Facility (FCF), and 1.75 MGD circular pre-stressed concrete forebay reservoir. Engineering Partners provided electrical engineering design and construction administration for the largest capital improvement investment in Padre Dam Municipal Water District history. Main switchgear with rating of 2500A, 480V, 3φ, 4W is fed from a 2500 kVA-12 kV to 480V transformer. The facility main is provided with 100% backup power using 1MW emergency diesel generator. The design also included interior and exterior lighting including security lighting to the facility and main gate entry. Security systems include card access gate entry system, Pump Station and Forebay Tank doors and hatches with security intrusion detection switches reported via radio via SCADA. Both Telephone and SCADA communications were designed as well as instrumentation and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and controls. EPI, on the same contract, provided the SDG&E certified design for the new OH 12 kV connection pole and 12kV underground SDG&E and AT&T service that feeds both Pump Station and FCF Building. The work includes close coordination with SDG&E and AT&T for power and telephone services, respectively.
